Blogging

  • Sharebar

The desire to “perfect” things, and get it all together FIRST before we actually do anything can be a crippling experience. I’m just as guilty of this as anyone else, and I’m at a point where I’m determined to break this bad habit, so I can get more accomplished in my life, and be willing to fail and do some things imperfectly.

For example, this blog has been apart of my “business journey” online since 2009. However, as much as it was supposed to be a transparent reveal through my journey, some where along the way I began to criticize and devalue what was worthy of posting.

There’s More To The Journey Than…..

You see, sometimes, for those of us in the “make money online” world, we tend to want to only talk about those things that will “make us money”. But we forget that people don’t just want to know that side ONLY, they also want to know,

  • Are you human?
  • Do you get frustrated?
  • What do you do when things don’t go your way?
  • What does your home life look like?
  • Are you married?
  • Do you have kids?
  • If so, how do you balance kids and business… and so on and so forth.

I must confess that I’m always thinking of wonderful blog posts while driving around, in the midst of a conversation or in the shower. Somehow though, that “wonderful idea in my mind” doesn’t always translate it’s way from my head to this blog… leaving tons of wonderful blog topics and conversations non-existent between you and I.

A New Day And A New Blog Practice

So, here’s what I’ve decided to do to break this bad habit.

I’m going to incorporate all facets of my life, onto this blog.

See, there are so many different components to my life. I’m a mom, a wife, a type A personality that’s learning how to focus on one thing at a time, a dreamer, a wanna be photographer, a wanna be fitness guru and health nut (hopefully), and so much more. And as much as I love sharing these things with others, I very rarely incorporate these other exciting aspects of my life, onto the blog.

But that will all change from this day forward.

I Have An Idea…..

At first, I was thinking, “why don’t I just have different blogs for different topics”.. but whats the point? If I can barely keep up with one, what makes me think having 5 different blogs would be the “bright idea”…

Ehhhhh… Not!!

I’ll be incorporating all aspects of my life and my journey here, and hopefully, my wonderful blog designer can help me come up with a way to segment the blog for those interested in specific areas of my life.. if they’re interested in my life at all!

A Day In The Life Of….

So, don’t be surprised when you see me sharing different topics that aren’t related to “Make Money From Home”.

Instead, embrace the fact that I’m sharing with you why you need to “Stop Perfecting Your Blog.. and simply, Just Blog”!

Blog about what’s going on in your life.

Blog about what frustrates you.

Blog about how challenging things can be balancing other aspects of your life, and business…. BUT share how you’re able to overcome them all!

Be free to Blog, because your blog is about YOU and Your Journey!

You don’t need approval from anyone else.

You don’t need to compare yourself to anyone else…

This is your Journey! Be okay with your original ideas and vision and stick to your guns by staying on your path and in your lane with your message, and let your voice be heard and shared in the blogosphere!

great post. I think you’re right – showing that you are human actually seems to build your credibility!

i’m more willing to trust a human being than a blog that is just out there to make money

I am just reading this post and while I’m a little late, this is way over due. Thanks so much for sharing. I am guilty of this and use it as an excuse not to blog. So what if my banner isnt perfect. Why take two days to come up with a “perfect” topic and instead just write. Some call it writer’s block but I just call it procrastination. After all, they say, admittance is the first step. Thanks Nicole!! I needed that swift kick to get back on track. Luv ya!!!

Hi Nicole, I must admit I was so cautious with my blogs when I first started out. I thought no body was going to read them or even go to my site. The first article I wrote took me 5 hours to write, can you believe that? I was so nervous. But gradually I saw people were coming to my site and reading what I had to say….WOW. I thought “hey I’m ok there are people out there that are like me”. And now I write about what I find interesting and people are still coming to read it. If there is anyone out here in the same boat all I can say is no matter where you are and how different you think you are there are always others who can understand you. We are all more similar than we are different. So go for it.
